So I bought this with the idea that I could use it on the RIA TAC ULTRA FS HC 45 ACP. It "works" with some modifications. I used the MEC-GAR Black P-14 "14" round magazines. From what I've read and tried the P-14 with the standard base has trouble fitting in the 14th round. Getting the 14th round with this base pad is a lot easier. You can get one extra but, it is harder and has the chance to cause issues like with the standard base. The base pad is not built for the 45 version of mags so it is understandable that there is some issues. What I did to make it so the base pad could work with the P14 magazine was shave off the lip on the end of the spring base. The lip does not allow the spring base to fully seat inside the base pad. Secondly, there is some play with the magazine causing it to "wiggle". To fix this, I used electrical tape to make it so the magazine body and the base pad stay together. I have noticed two things about the base pads themselves. The first was that on the site there are no circles on the front. I bought three base pads and all 3 came with small holes in the front. The second thing I noticed was that the small holes in the front are different. Two have (what I'm going to assume is) standard sized circles. One has smaller circles. The weird part is, the one with the smaller circles doesn't really need tape. There was a small amount of wiggle but I didn't have any issues during my first test firing. The two with the standard size circles had more noticeable wiggle and both had caused one malfunction when test firing near the last round. To be fare, all three had the extra round for a total of 15 but it is still weird that the one with smaller circles did not have any problems all the way through. On my second test firing, I made sure to tape all 3 so there wasn't any wiggle and they all fired fine with no issues. The 2 mags that had issues last time were fully loaded to 14 and shot fine. I'm not sure if the problem was the wiggle but I'm going to assume so. If you are willing to do some testing and modifications then give it a try. It will take some time and money so keep that in mind. The base pad itself does nicely match the magazine and gives the gun a nicer appearance. Inserting and removing the magazine is easier. You can get more of your hand on the base to drive it in to make sure it really goes it. Also, since it adds more weight to the magazine it falls out easier. I am going to keep working with it but overall I'm pretty happy with it.
