This upgraded version of the basepad we developed for the Border Patrol Tactical Operations Group (BORTAC) has a history of excellence. Known for extreme durability, it offers shooters a meaningful capacity advantage.
Originally developed at San Antonio BORTAC's request, our 140mm basepad for the HKP30/30L and VP9 has been through multiple upgrades, and still has extra features not found on basepads intended for competition.
- High Security locking plate design (no "quick-release" cut).
- Heavier shoulder profile. More durable overall.
- (NEW!) Updated shoulder profile - safe for use in the VP9A1 and VP9A1K.
- (NEW!) Lightening cuts on sides and top increase grip, reduce weight/bulk.
- (NEW!) Dot-tracker system for keeping track of individual mags.
- Fits 15 & 17 round mags
- USPSA legal -- fits the "141.25mm" gauge used for Carry Optics, Limited Optics, Limited, etc.
Adds 5 rounds to the HKVP9 and HKP30/P30L .40 S&W and 9mm magazines (adds 4 on the new 17-rounder). Also works on the HKP2000 and P2000SK, where it provides 4 additional rounds.
Competition Value: While working on this project, we were contacted by 3-Gunners who also shoot the HK. Happily, the design works for them as well. Northwest 3-Gunners TJ Lurvey and Tavis Miller participated in the R+D. For them, going to 18 or 20/21 rounds total makes this family of pistols vastly more competitive in ways it just wasn't before.
CUSTOM SPRING INCLUDED: The "Border Special" ships with a custom 140mm spring. (Using the standard spring, the slide will not lock back consistently.) Older VP9s with 15-round magazines use a different spring -- available on request.

VP9 / P30 "Border Special" +5
These are great. Simple to install. Clean design. I've never had one come loose. They hold 20 without breaking my thumb to load. Reliable. Good stuff!

HK mag extension
I’ve been using this product for 5-6 years now and couldn’t be happier about its performance. To date I think it has the best retention design out there. The screws on the backplate have never come loose and I have done plenty of shooting, running, woodland ops, etc. I trust my life to this product and it has yet to fail me. My first one is a little beat up but she still performs and is on my kit. I will need to get her replaced as the design has slightly changed, but I have no doubt that the design is solid. Simply put there is no better mag extension for HK on the market in my opinion.

Tried different extensions but these are by far the best, 20 plus mags for my vp9s all have these on them

Well built and clearly quality. Plan on running them in Carry Optics. Have had no issues with range time or dry fire. Get you some!

Great extensions, no complaints
These are easy to install, and function perfectly. The included springs give you a bit more oomph than the stock springs, even on the first few rounds, which aids in reliability and last-round lock-back. Fit is nice and tight, required a smidge of fitting on the back of the inside magwell, which is fine by me - got it dialed in so that they sit perfectly with zero slop, and drop free when empty with no hesitation. They're way more solid than the OE polymer base plates too, and the screw-down steel keeper on the back is a nice touch. Definitely have a ton of confidence when dropping partial mags during matches that these will hold up to the abuse, and the extra weight doesn't hurt those reload times either.

Border special magazine extension
These extensions and springs came just as described. The installation was easy. I have not shot with the magazines extensions yet, but the extensions fit the magwell nicely. The empty magazines lock the slide back also.

LOVE!
I didn't think I would be able to put them on myself because I'm just not that handy with this stuff. But I did it right the first time.! Mag extenders work beautifully! They make a HUGE difference in stage planning at matches. I have a lot more options :) I LOVE them!

HK p30 border patrol special +5
Just finished testing and qualifying with this +5 BP special. Easy to install. You have to modify the mag well slightly to get it to seat easily. Solid feeling. No problems in the first 200 rounds. Passed the drop test. Great product. I'm using it now on duty. Expensive but you get what you pay for.
