BACKSTORY: Not long after buying a TM22, TF Machinist Jim Schroeder needed to learn some new programming software. To get there, Jim decided to make a basepad for his new rifle as a kind of learning project.
Once programmed, he knocked it out using a bit of scrap brass and brought it by the office, planning to talk about the new software. Unbeknownst to Jim, owner Robin Taylor had just met with Rock Island executives, who asked for an accessory basepad for the TM22!
Jim's side project immediately became a "real project" and went to Rock Island for feedback. In short, everybody loved it.
Product designers all have their particular "flair," and Jim's designs are notably robust and aggressive. In a word, Jim's parts look "rugged." That's why we're calling it the "Rugged 22!"
