It all started when Nils Jonasson (pro shooter for Canik) asked us to increase the amount of checkering on his TF backstrap. He likes to maintain a "death grip" on his pistol, and checkering helps lock the gun in his hand. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!
TF's "Death Grip" has checkering spanning the entire gripping surface. Compared to competing models, the Death Grip has more checkering in contact with your hand plus a high level of weight, thus more of the control-enhancing features you want!
Weight and felt recoil are directly related. By adding weight a lightweight gun calms down, creating a smoother-shooting, slower-kicking, more-neutrally-balanced handgun. Brass is best in most situations, but if you're carrying the gun around all day, you might want aluminum instead.
- Machined from bar stock H02 Brass or 6061 aluminum
- Ridiculous volumes of high-traction checkering CUT into each piece (not cast) for maximum "grip" and control
- Built-in mount point for factory and TF magwells (typical "tailhook" style)
- Lowers the center of gravity (better balance, calmer handling, less top-heavy)

Life changing
This is by far the best back strap for medium to large-sized hands. The machine work is exactly what you’d expect from TF—top-tier craftsmanship and high-quality materials. The added weight provides a more balanced feel in hand, ensuring a consistent grip whether drawing from concealment or OWB. It performs exceptionally well in the Texas heat, reducing slippage and helping with consistent hand placement. I tested one for competition and another for my EDC, and both exceeded expectations.

This piece is solid and adds the right amount of heft to the rear gun to give it great balance in your hand. The diamond checkered pattern is superior to the OEM pattern. It has just the right amount of bite. Don’t hesitate to make this purchase.

WOW! TF Knocked it out of the part with this VP9 Death Grip Backstrap. Mill work and fitment are exceptional. Gave the VP9 the weight it needed from the beginning with exceptional grip and feel as an added bonus.
